Hey family!

Trek sounds like it was awesome!!! I would love to do that again, it really was such an amazing experience. Send me some pictures!!

Yes I got to watch the mission president's training holy cow it was awesome!! I wish they had those more often! It was weird to be sitting there and thinking back to a year ago when I was at the MTC and all the mission presidents were there and now it's a year later!! Sheesh time has seriously just flown by, it's crazy!! It was cool though afterwards we got 2 texts from different members in our ward already wanting to step it up with their member missionary efforts! The Lord is definitely hastening His work it's exciting and I love that I get to be in the thick of it!

I hope Brooke and Amber have fun at Oakcrest this week! Did Brooke go by herself or did she have a friend go with her I can't remember...? And yes I did get Brooke's letter :) But I haven't gotten Nate's wedding announcement yet... Thank you thank you for the wonder tees!!

It's been another pretty good and busy week! The best news is that we got a new GOLDEN investigator this week!! Her name is Sydney Ramey she's 20 and right now is rooming with a member of the church, it's a guy and he's not active but because of that a family friend of his mom goes and checks on them every once in awhile so she, Sister Miller, got to know Sydney and asked her if she'd like to talk to the missionaries. Sydney said yes and we met with her twice this week! She just loves everything that we have to teach and says it just makes her happy and makes sense, yah it does!! We went to a baptism on Saturday and she came and afterwards she was like you know I think that's something I'd like to do. So I committed her right then and there for July 6th!!!  :) :) :) She came to church yesterday and was bummed when it was over she just soaked it all in and loved everything! She said she felt so welcomed and loved. I love this church!!! I don't understand why everyone doesn't want to be a part of it! Sister Burningham and I were talking about it the other day and I said even though we're thousands of miles away from home whenever I see that sign, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" I know that I'm home! I love it!! :) Anyway she's pretty much amazing and I'm so excited for her!

Beth also is doing great! She comes to church every week, her husband though is still being a stick in the mud... She's hoping and praying that it'll happen on July 13th, her attitude is though not if it'll happen but when. She's moving to the Atlanta area at the end of July, and I immediately thought of Amber how cool would that be if you were in her new ward and got to teach her family?!?!

Pam is another story... We just are having a hard time reading her, she is golden but lately she's been dodging appointments and she told us she would be at church then canceled last minute. I don't know what we'll end up doing. It would break my heart to drop her but sometimes that's just what you gotta do... :( Please keep her in your prayers.

I finally met another investigator the previous sisters had been working with her name is Patti Nisbet, her husband is an active member, right now she's just kinda being stubborn I'm pretty sure she knows it all true, hopefully she'll realize she knows and take that leap of faith soon!

We had another successful exchange this week, I went up to Rogersville to be with Sister Kaitlyn Taylor and Sister Sharlie Hatch came down here with Sister Burningham. I really am loving this new calling, it's been way fun to get to know the other sisters and be able to help them out.

I'm getting my hair cut today! It probably won't be anything crazy, I'm thinking just layers and get the ends cut off and get it thinned holy moly I have so much hair it's crazy!

Well I think that about covers this week. Thank you for your love and prayers! I love love love y'all!!! xoxoxo

Hey family!!

OH MY HECK! Atlanta GA!!!! That is so cool!!!! That is so crazy our whole family so far will serve in the south!! MAYBE since we'll be so close I'll be able to see her before I go home... President let one of the Elders do that a few months ago with his brother. I'll have to ask him about it in a few months.

Before I forget my VISA card expires next month... Will they just send me a new one? Also if you could send me a black and white wonder tee, size small probably, I would greatly appreciate it!! And my new address is 915 Moreland Dr. apt. 6 Kingsport, TN 37662

Sounds like things are going great at home!! I hope you had a great Father's day dad!! I love you so much and I'm SO grateful that you're my dad! :)

Answers to some of your questions....

YES! Kayli got baptized Saturday! I talked to Sister Clove and she said it went so great! I really wish I could have been there but she said she'd send me some pictures. :)

Yes exchanges are over nighters they usually last about 24 hours. I went with Sister Colwell up to Greeneville on Friday. It was fun to get to serve with her again. And yah we get a lot more miles now which is way nice! We will go to Farragut once a month for those training meetings for most of the day.

Beth is doing great! She is such an amazing lady who wants to be baptized so bad! It's so frustrating when one person stands in the way of someones happiness, it's just like Oralia's situation... But she told us its not a matter of it if it happens but when. :) I love her attitude about the whole thing.

Pam... Well we went and saw her Saturday and brought her and her son Devonte some clothes for church and she was acting kinda weird saying well just call me before you come. Her ride came Sunday morning and no one answered the door. Then Sister Burningham and I went by to see her after church and no one answered the door again but we knew they were home because we could hear them in there... So I don't know exactly whats going on there but hopefully we can get in touch with her again sooner than later and see what's going on.

The ward here is incredible! There are so many returned sister missionaries it's awesome! And they feed us like kings holy smokes I'm trying really hard not to look like an elephant by the time I get home!

A bunch of us missionaries went to an old folks home and sang to them on Saturday which was fun, there was one lady that sang along well tried haha to all the songs and another lady that said wow that was good after every song haha it was cute.

That is so exciting about Jeff Martin!!! Give him my love and a big hug please! What an amazing experience! I can't believe its been 2 years now since he passed away...

I about died laughing at your foot odor story mom haha!! Like Courtney said it probably needed to be said haha!

I haven't gotten Brooke's letter yet...

It's been another pretty good week! Busy again and kinda stressful but it's all good. I really am grateful for those trials of faith, I've become a much more self assured confident person and I owe it all to serving a mission. I really just love being a missionary! I couldn't have asked for a better last year of my life (I hit my year mark on Thursday!), it's been HARD but so GOOD! I've learned and grown so much, it kinda blows my mind.

I've come to love and appreciate the gospel so much! I think I've said this before but never again will I take it for granted, I just wish that everyone we came in contact with felt the same way...

Thanks for being the best family a girl could ask for! I love and miss you all lots!! xoxoxo

Helloooooooo family!!!

Yep you read it right I've actually left the Chattanooga zone! I was there for almost a year and I really am going to miss it, there will always be a special place in my heart for the people in the Chattanooga stake! :)

I'm now in Kingsport, TN which is one of the furthest northern parts of the mission. It's really pretty up here and it feels right to be here. My new companion is Sister Sidney Burningham from Centerville UT. She is awesome! We hit it off instantly and work really well together, it's been fun. And it's nice to be with someone who knows what they're doing again haha it’s been awhile... I really did love training but it's nice to have a change of pace.

It really sucked saying goodbye to the Athens ward, even though I was only there a short time Sister Clove and I just clicked with everyone in that ward really fast. Our ward mission leader Brother Roger Ward feeds all the departing missionaries a steak dinner wow oh wow it was probably the best steak I've ever had! It was a fun night another couple in the ward we got close to Don and Kathy Daggs came and the Elders, good last day in Athens TN.

So holy cow ever since I got out of the car here in my new area it has been go go go! We've been soooooo busy! Which is awesome I love it! It's just been kinda stressful too. We were supposed to have a baptism the Saturday I got here for a lady named Beth Starkey but we got a call from here friend who introduced her to the church that Beth's husband basically gave her an ultimatum and said it's either me or the church. She was obviously crushed and so was Sister Burningham I felt so bad... But she also really impressed me in that she said you know though I just know everythings going to be okay and that the Lord will take care of it. We went and met with Beth at the church and she told us that she felt like it would probably be best if she postponed her baptism date a couple of weeks. She really wants to be baptized but she just needs to get her husband on board. She came to church though and told us it's not a matter of if it's a matter of when I'll get baptized, it was cool.

We had another miracle happen with a lady named Pam Mitchell, Sister Burningham and Johnson OYMed her and she told us that normally she runs from people like us but she said I literally couldn't move my feet I felt like they weighed a million pounds and I took that as a sign that I'm supposed to listen to what you girls have to say so they met with her one time before I got here then the day I get here we get this call from her and she is just sobbing on the phone. Her fiance lost his job and the only income they have coming in is her disability check which isn't much anyway she just said I just wanted to call and ask if you could say a prayer with me. So we did over the phone and Sister Burningham said one of the most beautiful prayers I've ever heard with words that really weren't her own it was an awesome experience! We went over the next day with the Elders and they gave her a beautiful blessing and she agreed to pray about a baptismal date. So we go by the next day and she says June 22nd!! She came to church yesterday and loved it! She said she felt like everything that was being said was meant just for her! :) When she got home her grandson Devonte asked her where she'd been and (he's 13) she told him that she'd been at church and that she was going to be baptized and he asked her if he to could be baptized!! She said are you sure that's what you want? and he said yes I want to start going to church! It really was a miracle! Good things are happening here in Kingsport.

I hope all that made sense I'm trying to hurry... We've got a lot to do. AHHHH!

So being a Sister Training Leader is kinda like being a zone leader except just for sisters. Sister Burningham and I will go on an exchange with every companionship of sisters in our zone, so we will go on at least one exchange a week. We'll also be part of the mission leadership council which meets once a month to discuss the needs of the mission and missionaries. So it's definitely going to be a change of pace but it'll be good. I really am excited for this new opportunity and hope that I can help these sisters out.

Ok so super funny story!!!!!!

So our apartment reeks of smoke all of our neighbors smoke and I'm sure the tenants that lived there before smoked ugh it's nasty. So we get home on Saturday for lunch and I'm like let's just leave the door open and see if we can get some fresh air in here so we leave it open for awhile while we eat lunch then we close it and head upstairs to make some phone calls so while Sister Burningham is on the phone I head into the bathroom so I turn on the light and there is A FREAKING RACOON IN THE BATHROOM!!!!!!!! Oh my heck!! Hahaha so I start screaming bloody murder and run into the study room and scream there is a raccoon in the bathroom!!! Sister Burningham literally leaped onto our desk and starts screaming too hahaha she drops the phone so the poor sisters on the other end probably thought there was someone in our apartment. I hurry and close the door and we're both like what the heck do we even do!?!? So we grab a stick and slowly open the door to see if we can see it because I was stupid and left the bathroom door open and our bedroom door was open too!! So I go out and see it behind the bathroom door probably just shaking cuz I probably scared it just as much as it scared me. So we thought well maybe we can scare it out yah that didn't work haha so we hurry and close the door and decide to go get our landlord. So we run out and we're like Mac can you please come get this raccoon out of our bathroom?! He's like what the heck is a raccoon doing in your bathroom?! Hahahaha man I feel like this e-mail isn't really doing this story justice.. So Mack is like get me a broom and a box and he literally wrestles this thing in to the box!! Then he walks out of the bathroom just grinning haha. When he comes back after getting rid of it he says you can just call me the coon man! Then funny thing is that he literally looks like a coon man!! Hahahaha it was so funny! That right there is a southern story.

Sorry this e-mail is kinda all over the place but things are going great and I really am excited for this new phase of my mission!!

Please e-mail me as soon as Amber knows where she's going!!!!!! Wow wow wow I can't believe that it's been issued!!!

Everyone in Athens is doing great! Kayli's baptism date is still on for this weekend! I'm bummed "I can't be there but I'm more okay with it this time around. Sister Clove did stay in Athens.

Well I think that about covers the highlights. I love love love you all!!! xoxoxoxoxo

p.s. Happy Father's day dad!!! :) :)

Hey family!!!

Holy cow Tokyo Japan?!?! That's awesome!! Wow, wow, wow!!! Good for Kristen! :)

And AMBER!!!!!!!! WOOHOOOOO!!!!! Man I'm freakin' out for you!! That is so exciting!!!! :) :) :) :) :)

K before I forget... There is a guy her in the Athens ward Brother Furniss (I can't remember his first name off the top of my head, Wayne maybe...??) anyway but I was talking to him last week and he asked where I was from and he was like I have a brother that lives there! Come to find out he lives on 750 W, his name is Steven and Pam Furniss. He said if you're coming down the road they're on the right hand side like the 4th house down, that would put them in our ward wouldn't it?? Anyway he said that they are less active but I thought that y'all could go over there and do a little missionary work! :)

It's been another great week! Kinda one of mixed emotions though... We got  "the text" Friday night asking us to be on the transfer conference call Saturday morning... :( I thought for sure I'd be staying and just training again but I got a curve ball thrown. You know the new I guess you could call it position they have for sister trainer leaders? Well that's going to be me! This is the first transfer our mission has done it and honestly I'm not really sure what all I'll be doing haha they didn't really say but 8 of us have been called. I think it's going to be kinda like a zone leader so we'll go on a lot of exchanges with other sisters and make sure they're being trained. I'm thinking that like a zone leader there will be 2 of us in each zone, I'm really hoping that I get to stay in the Chattanooga zone! So I'm being transferred and me and my new companion will white wash an area. I'm so sad to be leaving Athens, I hate that I only got to spend 6 weeks here but I'm excited for this new opportunity! It'll be fun and I think a new change of pace. :)

I was wondering why I'd been called to serve here for just 6 weeks, I prayed about it, cried about it, and prayed some more and yesterday at church I got my answer. Yesterday was seriously the most incredible day I think I've had on my mission yet! I woke up honestly thinking that it was going to be a crappy day because it was POURING rain, the rain here is not like Utah rain, when it comes it comes! There were several flash floods here in Madisonville but our place was okay and we had spent the night in Athens which was a definite tender mercy because of all the standing water on the roads. Anyway we were supposed to have 4 people come to church but Relief Society starts and no one is there... In ward council though one of the brothers said that he had gone by to give a less active, Sister Hester a blessing and her friend Sandy (who we had met probably the first week we got here and asked if she'd like to learn more she said no, so that was kind of a bummer but we really didn't think much of it afterwards...) anyway Sandy really felt like she needed to go over to Sister Hester's home so she did while the men were there giving her a blessing she asked if she could have one as well and talked with them for a good hour about the church and said she'd like to come! So her and Sister Hester both walked in for Sunday school! We talked about repentance which seriously so perfect for the crowd that was there, the teacher shared how he had had a strong coffee addiction but that he was able to get over it. She spoke up and was like "I didn't know that coffee was bad for you..." We explained the word of wisdom and right then she says, "well my coffee pot is going in the trash as soon as I get home!" Holy crap it was awesome!!! You hear about stories like that happening but I'd never really experienced it, it was so cool!! An instant testimony. She was just glowing during all of church and just soaking it all in!

We walk out of Sunday school and guess whose standing in the hall?? Kayli and her mom!!!! Kayli ran and gave us both a huge hug! They were late because of the rain. So we head into sacrament meeting, it was fast and testimony meeting which can either be an interesting first experience for people investigating the church or it can be the most incredible and this time around is was definitely the latter!! We're sitting on the second row, surrounded by investigators on both sides! Kayli leans over to us and asked what was going on so we explained how testimony meeting works and we told her told her if she wanted to she could bear her testimony, she said do I have a testimony? And we just asked a few simple questions do you believe in Jesus Christ? Do you believe in the things we've taught you so far? She said yes and so we said then you have a testimony. Sister Clove and I both felt like we really needed to bear our testimonies for Kayli, so we did. It was a very spur of the moment just get up and do it don't think about it haha but it just felt so good to be able to bear my simple but heartfelt testimony to the ward one last time.

After we got up it was just one person after the other! There is a set of identical twins in our ward, Krista and Karina Kidder and they both got up and said I just wanted to thank the sister missionaries for all they've done to help me out, for getting me excited about church again and for making me want to serve a mission! Because of them I want to serve! Holy cow. Sister Clove and I were both just crying but it was the most happy tears I think I've ever shed. Another kid Brady Hansen got up and thanked us missionaries for being such a great example and how excited he is to serve a mission too! Man if I accomplish nothing else except to know that I was able to be a role model for someone to go on a mission and change their live, that would be okay with me.

So if all that wasn't awesome enough, Sister Wakefield gets up!!! She said I haven't gotten up here since I was 13 years old but I realize that I need to be setting a better example for my daughter Kayli and we are going to do better! Wow, wow, wow!!!! Seriously that was so huge! Her mindset has been we'll go to church a couple of times get Kayli baptized and then we probably won't go anymore. In district meeting Friday we had role played talking with Sister Wakefield about the importance of church and how she was setting an example for her daughter and that's what we were planning on going over with her and then she just up and did it herself!! And the last testimony born was Kayli's! It was the sweetest testimony I think I've ever heard. She was so nervous and all you could see were her little eyes over the pulpit but she said "Hi I'm Kayli, I know that Jesus loves me, and I know that what the missionaries are teaching me is true. In the name of Jesus Christ amen." I cannot even put into words how exactly I felt all I know is that it was absolutely incredible!

Experiences like yesterday are what it's all about. Bringing families into the gospel and setting an example for the future generations. Yesterday was a huge tender mercy for me, I felt like it was Heavenly Father's way of telling me, "Well done thou good and faithful servant." And I will let you see a part of the fruits of your labors right now. :) Being a missionary is the best thing ever.

Once again I'm leaving an area that is just booming with potential now but I'm okay with it more this time around. I'm realizing again how much bigger this work is than me, I'm just so grateful for the opportunity that I have to be a part of this amazing work!

Sister Smith is doing amazing still! She was going to come to church yesterday but she called and told us that her road was flooded over so she couldn't make it but she is going to be there next week. She told us she had a dream about her walking into our church and just feeling so good. :) She was one incredible lady, I'm going to miss her.

Well I think that about covers the highlights of the week... I love you all so so much!! xoxoxoxo

Sister Bedke :)

p.s. Thanks mom for getting the letter typed, I love you!!!
